Chirp reinvented the wheel—or at least one type, the yoga wheel. Chirp Wheels are effective in relieving upper and lower back pain, sciatica, and tension headaches. WIRED contributor Hannah Singleton has said the Chirp Wheel XR-3 Pack has even helped undo her tech neck and alleviate her brain fog.Recently, the wellness brand has expanded beyond its flagship wheels into recovery gear. The lineup now includes powered rolling massagers (which I’ve been using a lot lately for back pain relief), TENS units, and even a full massage table (Chirp Contour) that I’m currently testing (stay tuned for the full review). Where…
India’s mobile app market is generating record revenue, with in-app purchases crossing $300 million in the first quarter, up 33% year-over-year, according to Sensor Tower — but much of that spending is flowing to global platforms. Non-gaming apps were the main driver of growth in Q1, generating over $200 million in in-app purchase revenue — rising 44% year-over-year and increasing their share of overall spending, Sensor Tower said in its report. The gains were led by categories including utilities, video streaming, and generative AI. The progress reflects a broader shift in India’s app market, where annual in-app purchase revenue has…
Apple released a software update on Wednesday for iPhones and iPads fixing a bug that allowed law enforcement to extract messages that had been deleted or disappeared automatically from messaging apps. This was because notifications that displayed the messages’ content were also cached on the device for up to a month. In a security notice on its website, Apple said that the bug meant “notifications marked for deletion could be unexpectedly retained on the device.” This is a clear reference to an issue revealed by 404 Media earlier this month. The independent news outlet reported that the FBI had been…
Until a few hours before SpaceX announced its deal, giving it the option to acquire Cursor — the maker of AI-powered coding software — for $60 billion, Cursor was on track to close a $2 billion funding round later this week, according to a person familiar with the matter. The round would have valued the company at $50 billion. SpaceX said it would either buy the company at some point later this year or pay $10 billion to Cursor to collaborate on AI development. Cursor was apparently running a parallel process, negotiating a potential acquisition by SpaceX while simultaneously finalizing…
Bluesky isn’t the only company leaning into AI to help build custom feeds, it seems. Amid a slate of recent product releases, X this week announced the launch of Grok-powered Custom Timelines, which let you dive into one of over 75 specific topics through curated feeds that can be pinned to your home tab. The company touted the feature as one of the “biggest changes” to the app to date, saying it uses Grok’s AI to not only build these custom timelines but also personalize them for individual users. The custom feeds are arriving at the same time as X…

Elon Musk said Wednesday that millions of Tesla owners will need hardware upgrades to run a future version of its Full Self-Driving software that doesn’t require human supervision — after he and Tesla spent years promising that wouldn’t be the case. The admission could open the company up to legal challenges from customers who bought Teslas on the belief that the cars were just one software update away from being able to drive themselves. Musk said on Tesla’s quarterly earnings call Wednesday that cars with the third version of Tesla’s driver-assistance tech, known as “Hardware 3,” will need a new…
Cocaine pollution can affect the behavior of fish—altering, for example, the way Atlantic salmon move through their environment, prompting them to swim farther and disperse over a wider area.So finds a recent study by a research team coordinated by Griffith University, the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, the Zoological Society of London, and the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior and published in the journal Current Biology. The findings provide the first evidence that the effects of cocaine contamination on fish behavior occur not only under laboratory conditions but also in the wild, where animals are exposed to much more…
Tesla CEO Elon Musk kicked off the company’s first-quarter earnings call with a monetary heads-up — or depending on the mindset of the investor, a warning. Tesla’s capital expenditures will skyrocket to $25 billion in 2026, far outpacing its previous annual spend as it races to stay ahead of the competition and transitions to an AI and robotics company, according to its first-quarter earnings report. That figure, which covers what Tesla plans to spend on physical assets outside of its day-to-day operating expenditures, is three times higher than its annual capex budget in previous years. For comparison, Tesla’s annual capital…
Kalshi announced Wednesday that it had taken action against three US politicians for violating the prediction market platform’s rules on insider trading. One of the candidates, Mark Moran, a former investment banker and contestant on the reality dating show FBoy Island, is running a long-shot campaign for US Senate in Virginia against incumbent Mark Warner. According to Moran, getting caught was actually his plan all along: “I bet $100 on myself, not denying that, I did do it,” he tells WIRED. “I wanted to see if they would enforce it.”Moran claims he was inspired to pull off the stunt after…

Sam Altman’s eyeball-scanning startup, Tools for Humanity, announced last week that a new product called Concert Kit—designed to give verified humans a way to purchase concert tickets—would first roll out on Bruno Mars’ world tour of his latest studio album, The Romantic. However, Bruno Mars Management and Live Nation, the producer for the Romantic Tour, told WIRED in a joint statement on Tuesday that the partnership “does not exist,” and that Tools for Humanity never even approached them about working together. The confusion stemmed from a Tools for Humanity event April 17 in San Francisco, where chief product officer Tiago Sada said…

Tesla saw an uptick in revenue and profit year-over-year, figures buoyed by an increase in automotive revenue and other services, including active subscriptions to its Full Self-Driving (Supervised) advanced driver assistance system, which reached 1.28 million. Tesla shares rose 4% in after-hours trading following the release of its first-quarter earnings report, driven by largely by a jump in its free cash flow, as well as increases in revenue and profit on a year-over-year basis. The company reported Wednesday revenue of $22.38 billion, a 16% increase from the $19.3 billion it generated in the first quarter of 2025. Its automotive revenue…
This is a 176-pound ebike, so you’re not going to carry it up your walk-up to keep it safe. Instead, you’ll have to live with the fact that you have to park the Olto on the curb or street; you can lock it up just like any other bike.Photograph: Julian ChokkattuBut you don’t need to secure it, as there’s a lock for the motor and steering that’s automatically activated when the bike is turned off. There’s also a very sensitive alarm that roars to life if someone tries to tamper with the bike (it could stand to be louder), with…
Earlier this month, NASA’s Artemis II mission sent four astronauts to orbit the Moon and used new laser communications systems to beam dramatic images back to Earth. One of the receivers, though, wasn’t hosted by the US space agency. A low-cost terminal built by the companies Observable Space and Quantum Opus, and operated by the Australian National University, pulled down data broadcast from a spacecraft at the Moon at a rate of 260 megabits per second. That success proves that high-throughput connections between Earth and space can be done on the cheap, the companies say. The terminal used Observable Space’s…
