The NHL also pointed WIRED to its partnerships with Pride organizations around the US, Canada, and Australia, as well as pro-inclusivity organization You Can Play, which it’s been working with since 2013. The league said it will be hosting its third annual Pride Cup in 2026.NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman has said he “binged” Heated Rivalry in one night and told reporters that all NHL teams do a Pride night. However, as the New York Times reported, that is no longer the case, with a couple of teams opting for more general inclusivity events.Teresa Fowler, an associate professor at Concordia University…
The first week of February saw ABC World News Tonight with David Muir remain the most-watched evening newscast in total viewers and the Adults 25-54 demo. However, it was the only broadcast to lose viewers when compared to the previous week in both measured categories.NBC Nightly News with Tom Llamas finished the week of February 2 as the only broadcast to see across-the-board viewership gains. It also significantly narrowed the demo viewership gap between it and WNT, with 50,000 demo viewers separating the two newscasts.Note: The weekly averages of ABC World News and CBS Evening News are based on four…

Customers can enter a list or upload an image of one, and Cart Assistant will automatically add the necessary items to their basket. This includes photos of handwritten lists or screenshots of recipes and their ingredients. Users can then customize the…
OpenClaw, a powerful new agentic assistant, has a thing for guacamole. This is one of several things I discovered while using the viral artificial intelligence bot as my personal assistant this past week.Previously known as both Clawdbot and Moltbot, OpenClaw recently became a Silicon Valley darling, charming AI enthusiasts and investors eager to either embrace the bleeding edge or profit from it. The highly capable, web-savvy AI bot has even inspired its own AI-only (or mostly) social network. As the writer of WIRED’s AI Lab newsletter, I figured I should take the plunge and try using OpenClaw myself. I had the bot…

Without a doubt, one of the hottest new startup accelerators in tech right now is Andreessen Horowitz’s Speedrun program. Launched in 2023, the accelerator has an acceptance rate of less than 1%. In a January blog post, the program said that over 19,000 startups pitched and fewer than 0.4% were accepted into the latest cohort. The program used to focus on gaming startups, then expanded into entertainment and media, and is now a “horizontal program,” Joshua Lu, the program’s general manager and a partner at a16z, told TechCrunch. Today, founders of any type of startup can apply, and the program…
On Tuesday, WIRED published details of ICE’s planned expansion into more than 150 office spaces across the United States, including 54 specific addresses. If you haven’t read that yet, you should, not least because there’s probably one not far from you.ICE has designs on every major US city. It plans to not only occupy existing government spaces but share hallways and elevator bays with medical offices and small businesses. It will be down the street from daycares and within walking distance of churches and treatment centers. Its enforcement officers and lawyers will have cubicles a modest drive away from giant…
NBC News’ Today continues to be America’s No. 1 morning show in both total viewers and the Adults 25-54 demo for the week of February 2. Today retains the title for the third week in a row in the total viewers category and continues its long-standing dominant position in the advertiser-coveted demo. All this is happening as all three broadcast news outlets remain focused on covering the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, in Arizona. Meanwhile, GMA started February as the only broadcast to see declines in both measured categories. As for CBS Mornings, it was the only morning show with…
The former boss of a U.S. maker of hacking and surveillance tools stole and sold technology that can hack millions of computers and people worldwide, U.S. prosecutors have confirmed for the first time. In October, Australian national Peter Williams, 39, pleaded guilty to selling eight hacking tools that he stole from his employer Trenchant, a division of the U.S. defense contractor L3Harris, which sells its surveillance-enabling tools to the U.S. government and its closest allies. Williams admitted to making more than $1.3 million in crypto from the sales between 2022 and 2025, per the Justice Department. In a court document…
For Elon Musk, the US Justice Department’s release of 3 million additional files related to criminal investigations of Jeffrey Epstein last month was immediately embarrassing. Attention in particular fell on emails Musk sent the financier several years after he pleaded guilty to solicitation of prostitution and of procurement of minors to engage in prostitution in Florida and registered as a sex offender.“What day/night will be the wildest party on your island?” Musk wrote in November 2012, for example, appearing to seek an invite to Little Saint James, Epstein’s private island in the Caribbean. While there has been no confirmation that any…

UpScrolled, a social network that caught fire after TikTok’s ownership change in the U.S., is facing a serious moderation problem. After growing to more than 2.5 million users in January, users have reported the app is not taking action on the creation of usernames and hashtags that contain racial slurs, and hasn’t been able to properly moderate harmful content. After receiving tips from UpScrolled users, TechCrunch confirmed the existence of a wide range of racial slurs and hate speech being used in people’s usernames on the app. For instance, some usernames would feature the name of the slur itself, the…
Wacom’s new MovinkPad 11 is a compelling alternative to the iPad for serious digital artists looking for a portable sketching tool. It’s not as powerful as a full workstation or even an iPad, but the battery life is good, the drawing experience is best in class, and you can take it with you.Whether you’re a confirmed digital fan or, like me, still prefer paper and pens or pencils but want to dabble in digital art, the MovinkPad is a compelling alternative to the iPad. An iPad is more likely to suck you into the internet or disrupt you with messages…

At least nine engineers, including two co-founders, have now publicly announced their departure from xAI in the past week – though two of those exits appear to have occurred a few weeks ago. Neither xAI nor Elon Musk have publicly commented on the departures. While attrition is typical at startups, co-founder departures are far less so. More than half of xAI’s founding team has now left, and the fact that several employees followed within days has intensified scrutiny around the company’s stability. Three of the departing staff members say they will be starting something new alongside other former xAI engineers,…
