Jimmy Donaldson, better known as YouTube creator MrBeast, tweeted in late December that he’d been “sitting on an amazing Super Bowl commercial idea for years” and was looking for a brand willing to let him make it. Salesforce didn’t hesitate. CEO Marc Benioff replied to the tweet, setting off what now appears to be the enterprise software company’s Super Bowl 60 ad collaboration with the world’s biggest creator. @MrBeast Jimmy, you absolute Slack maniac—hit me with a wild offer I can’t refuse for your Super Bowl spot! Let’s make the craziest Salesforce-Slack love child ad the world’s ever seen. 🙏😂…
Elon Musk’s X is experiencing its second large-scale outage this week. The site and app, formerly known as Twitter, are either not loading at all or glitching into life briefly before throwing up error messages like gang signs. The site Down Detector shows nearly 80,000 reports of X being down starting at around 10am eastern time, and is still down at the time of this writing. This is the second major outage at X this week, following an earlier technical issue. It comes as the platform faces criticism after Grok, xAI’s chatbot that is integrated into X, has been fulfilling…
The past year has been traumatic for many of the volunteer tech warriors of what was once called the United States Digital Service (USDS). The team’s former coders, designers, and UX experts have watched in horror as Donald Trump rebranded the service as DOGE, effectively forced out its staff, and employed a strike force of young and reckless engineers to dismantle government agencies under the guise of eliminating fraud. But one aspect of the Trump initiative triggered envy in tech reformers: the Trump administration’s fearlessness in upending generations of cruft and inertia in government services. What if government leaders actually…

YouTube is updating its advertiser-friendly content guidelines to allow more videos on controversial issues to earn full ad revenue, as long as they’re dramatized or discussed in a non-graphic manner. These controversial topics include self-harm, abortion, suicide, and domestic and sexual abuse. YouTube notes that content on child abuse or eating disorders will remain ineligible for full monetization. YouTube announced the change this week in a video on its Creator Insider channel. “In the past, the degree of graphic or descriptive detail was not considered a significant factor in determining advertiser friendliness, even for some dramatized material,” YouTube explained. “Consequently,…
A smart plug is a pretty handy gadget, but for a while they were touted as a device you could add to anything to turn it smart. That’s true to a certain degree; you can use a smart plug to add instant power control to any outlet, letting you turn the outlet on and off at your command from anywhere in your home (or even if you aren’t there). The TV can now turn off on command, the lights will automatically flip on at 5 pm, and a simple coffee maker or appliance can essentially run itself if all it…
What if the most powerful career advice is to stop listening to everyone else?In this episode of Adspeak by Adweek, recorded live at Brandweek, host Ryan Joe sits down with marketing powerhouse Bozoma Saint John to unpack how intuition and not approval has guided her career across Apple, Uber, Netflix, and beyond. Bozoma shares why traditional mentorship is overrated, how fear often disguises itself as “good advice,” and what it really takes to assert authority in rigid corporate environments. It took Rebecca Yu seven days to vibe code her dining app. She was tired of the decision fatigue that comes from people in a group chat not being able to decide where to eat. Armed with determination, Claude, and ChatGPT, Yu decided to just build a dining app from scratch — one that would recommend restaurants to her and her friends based on their shared interests. “Once vibe-coding apps emerged, I started hearing about people with no tech backgrounds successfully building their own apps,” she told TechCrunch. “When I had a week off before school started, I decided it…
In case you didn’t get the memo, everyone is feeling very Chinese these days. Across social media, people are proclaiming that “You met me at a very Chinese time of my life,” while performing stereotypically Chinese-coded activities like eating dim sum or wearing the viral Adidas Chinese jacket. The trend blew up so much in recent weeks that celebrities like comedian Jimmy O Yang and influencer Hasan Piker even got in on it. It has now evolved into variations like “Chinamaxxing” (acting increasingly more Chinese) and “u will turn Chinese tomorrow” (a kind of affirmation or blessing). It’s hard to quantify…
During his decade-long hiatus, Dos Equis’ The Most Interesting Man in the World became decidedly uninteresting.Instead of winning lifetime achievement awards and sailing around the world, he started ironing his socks, doing jigsaw puzzles, and using a label maker, gradually transforming into “The Least Most Interesting Man.”But Dos Equis, the Heineken-owned beer brand behind one of advertising’s most famous characters, couldn’t let this go on for too long. Today (Jan. 16), Dos Equis has brought back The Most Interesting Man in the World, reigniting his spark to inspire a new generation to “Stay Thirsty” for experiences.Played by the original actor, Jonathan…
Compare 9 Top Wi-Fi RoutersOther Routers We Have TestedI have tested many other models and have several more in the queue. These aren’t as great as the picks above, but they are worth considering.Photograph: Simon HillTP-Link Archer BE6500 (GE400) for $220: This dual-band Wi-Fi 7 gaming router is a solid performer. At close range on the 5-GHz band, it can go toe-to-toe with most of the devices on this list. It also offers dedicated gaming features, though some of them require subscriptions. I was disappointed by the limited range, and the comparable TP-Link BE6500 (BE400) is currently on sale for…

In a somewhat baffling directive, US Health Secretary RFK Jr. claims he’s “ending the war on protein.”The announcement, posted to White House’s X account on January 11 alongside an ominously lit photo of Kennedy, came as part of the federal government’s 2025-2030 Dietary Guidelines, which now prioritize protein “at every meal.” Some of the advice—particularly the avoidance of ultra-processed foods and added sugars—has been well received by dietary experts and health organizations like the American Heart Association. But other aspects of it represent shake-ups that defy scientific consensus. For example, the recommendation of consuming saturated fats found in full-fat milk,…
Netflix began planning its tarot-themed campaign to announce its 2026 slate early last year. India’s top court has ruled against Tiger Global in a tax case stemming from its Flipkart exit during Walmart’s 2018 takeover, a decision that strengthens New Delhi’s ability to challenge offshore treaty structures and could raise tax risk for global funds counting on predictable exits from one of the world’s fastest-growing major markets. On Thursday, the Indian Supreme Court backed the tax authorities in a dispute over whether Tiger Global could use its Mauritius-based entities to claim protection under the India–Mauritius tax treaty and avoid paying capital gains tax in India on profits linked to its exit in the Walmart–Flipkart…
