Kalshi isn’t having a very good week. On Tuesday, the Attorney General of Arizona filed a 20-count criminal complaint against the online prediction market, accusing it of running an illegal gambling business in the state. Now, another southwestern state has taken a big swing at the company: a judge in Nevada has temporarily banned the service from operating in the state as part of an ongoing court case brought by state regulators. Nevada, on behalf of its Gaming Control Board, sued Kalshi in February in an effort to block the prediction site from operating in the state. Officials maintain that…
Kalshi has been temporarily banned in Nevada, marking the latest escalation in the widening regulatory war over prediction markets. The First Judicial District Court of Nevada has issued a 14-day restraining order, effective immediately, barring the company from “offering a derivatives exchange and prediction market which offers event-based contracts relating to sports, election, and entertainment related events” without first obtaining gaming licenses. This is the first time a US state has forced the company to cease operations. Kalshi declined to comment. This particular legal battle began just over a year ago, when Nevada regulators sent Kalshi a cease-and-desist letter demanding that it…
The professional world is rapidly changing, and marketers must adapt to stay relevant. But according to a new survey from global market research firm Ipsos, work experience on its own isn’t enough to keep pace. The real competitive advantage comes from formal training, defined by the study as a marketing degree, professional certification, or structured courses.Created in collaboration with Mark Ritson, a former professor and founder of MiniMBA, Ipsos surveyed 1,226 marketers from the U.S., U.K., and Australia. The 10-question assessment of foundational marketing knowledge, or “marketing anchors,” had a benchmark passing score set at seven correct answers. Surprisingly, only 35% of…
At WP:26, Human Made’s virtual event exploring the future of WordPress, we brought together technologists, publishers, and platform leaders to discuss one big question: What patterns are emerging that will shape WordPress in 2026 and beyond? Across a day of talks and conversations, speakers explored how AI, accessibility, enterprise publishing, and evolving web standards are reshaping the role of a CMS. To open the event, Human Made’s CGO and Partner Noel Tock set the tone with a provocative idea: What happens when software agents start interacting with websites as much as people do? It’s a question that sits right at…
A newly published survey of more than 500 science conference presentations across a two-year period set out to determine whether scientists are funny, which is itself funny, if not the most productive use of time. The results were about what you’d expect: two-thirds of attempts at humor garnered either polite chuckles or straight-up dead silence, and only 9% landed well enough to get most of the room laughing. The biggest laughs, also unsurprisingly, came from technical snafus, like slides malfunctioning and mics cutting out. (Nothing brings an audience together faster than watching something go wrong for someone else.) Anyone who…

When we started planning WP:26, we kept returning to one question: What patterns are emerging that will shape WordPress in 2026 and beyond? The CMS landscape is changing quickly. AI is transforming how teams work. Expectations around accessibility and performance are rising. Enterprise organisations are rethinking how their digital platforms evolve over time. By the end of the event, one thing was clear: WordPress isn’t standing still while the web changes around it. If anything, the platform is evolving faster because of the people building with it — publishers, developers, and organisations experimenting at scale. From agent-ready architectures to accessibility,…
Web hosting platform WordPress.com is embracing AI agents, a decision that could change the look and feel of the web. The company announced Friday that it will now allow AI agents to draft, edit, and publish content on customers’ websites, as well as manage comments, update and fix metadata, organize content with tags and categories. All of this is controlled through an interface where the website’s owner explains what they want to do using natural language commands. With these new capabilities, websites could be almost entirely created and run via AI agents controlled by humans. This lowers the barrier to…
The war in Iran reached a new extreme this week, as both Israel and Iran launched strikes on oil and gas production and export facilities. The attacks up the stakes in a war that was already choking energy and commodity markets, and will threaten the long-term health of the global economy. On Friday, the International Energy Agency recommended that people work from home, drive slowly, and use gas stoves sparingly in order to alleviate price shocks from the crisis. The situation in the Gulf is so extreme, analysts told WIRED, that it’s almost unbelievable.“This scenario is something that you give to…

But rather than curate her persona to a certain audience, she leaned into her authentic voice. One of her first…
