Manscaped, the men’s grooming company founded in 2016, is marking its first decade in a big way: by airing its first-ever Super Bowl ad – and it’s a memorable one.

The 30-second spot, “Hair Ballad,” was created by Quality Meats, ADWEEK’s 2024 Small Agency of the Year. It features clumps of anthropomorphized human hair, freshly shaved off of various body parts, singing a melancholic ballad about their brief relationships with their male counterparts.

With lyrics like, “I was your scruff, your loyal friend,” the spot gives the hair monsters a surprisingly emotional existence.

“Hair Ballad” will air right before kickoff at Super Bowl 60.

“We wanted to create something America’s eyeballs have never seen before, and not go the typical Super Bowl route of hot new celebrity for the sake of hot new celebrity,” Gordy Sang, co-founder and co-CCO of Quality Meats, said in a statement. “So, we went the exact opposite direction: grotesque-yet-weirdly-lovable singing hairball monsters who are ultimately chopped off and thrown away due to Manscaped.”

The Super Bowl play is part of the brand’s new campaign, “Mancare Your Everywhere,” which underscores that Manscaped has gone beyond being a groin grooming pioneer. The spot makes it clear that the hair monsters have come from different parts of their owners’ bodies, like chest, chin, and eyebrows.

The end, however, has a punchy, comedic out that uses playground slang, harkening back to Manscaped’s roots.

The campaign, which will also include a mix of social media and lifestyle creator content, continues Manscaped’s trend of humorous and often absurd spots. Notable others include 2025’s “Send Face Pics Instead,” which encouraged men to send unsolicited face pics instead of a different kind of photo, and 2024’s “The Boys,” featuring men and their two unruly, hairy miniature doppelgängers.

Manscaped’s YouTube channel will also have the extended 60-second cut of the spot, for those who just can’t get enough of those sad hair monsters.
