MS NOW announced that Scott Foster will be joining the network’s Washington, D.C. bureau as its new White House Director.

Sudeep Reddy, MS NOW’s Washington Bureau chief, made the announcement on Thursday morning, saying Foster will be responsible for all aspects of the network’s White House coverage. He will lead the team of reporters and producers and guide the day-to-day editorial agenda.

In addition, Foster, who starts his new assignment on Monday, March 2, will oversee original White House reporting across all platforms and lead the production elements of covering the president in Washington and across the globe.

“[Foster’s] decades of newsroom experience have given him a broad and deep understanding of covering multiple agencies across Washington, including their inner workings, politics, and personalities,” said Reddy in a memo to MS NOW staffers.

Foster is the latest talent to move from NBC News to MS NOW since the two entities announced their separation in November 2024.

He had been at NBC News for over two decades, most recently spending 13 years as a senior producer at Today. During his time on the morning program, Foster led the production of the program’s Washington-based stories and managed all major domestic and international political segments.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, MS NOW announced another appointment, this time involving an on-air personality: Ali Velshi, who was elevated to chief data reporter.

In this role, Velshi will serve as the lead data person, contributing to all of MS NOW’s election and big political nights, providing the latest polling and real-time results.

“On big political nights, the numbers tell the story of participation, power, and choice. Voters decide elections, and the data lets us watch those decisions take shape in real time,” said Velshi. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to guide viewers through primaries, election nights, and major political moments with context, transparency, and a focus on the facts.”

Velshi will continue to anchor his weekend morning program, Velshi, which airs on Saturdays and Sundays at 10 a.m. ET.
