The TV industry is having network connectivity problems.
Today, ahead of upfront season, AMC Networks announced an official rebrand to AMC Global Media, which it says reflects the evolution of its business. With the news, AMC Global Media becomes the latest company in the TV industry to drop “networks” from its name.
“Our new name reflects the ongoing transformation of our business into a global media and studio-driven company, with streaming out front as our leading source of domestic revenue,” CEO Kristin Dolan said in a statement. “AMC Global Media produces and curates high-quality content and distributes it to viewers around the world through a variety of platforms and partnerships.”
In addition to its presence in the U.S., AMC Global Media noted it delivers programming to subscribers in more than 100 countries and territories worldwide. Its networks and streaming services include more than a dozen languages and produce around 1,000 hours of original content, including live sports, the company said.
The company’s assets include streaming services AMC+, Acorn TV, Shudder, Sundance Now, ALLBLK, HIDIVE, and All Reality; cable networks AMC, BBC America, IFC, SundanceTV, and We TV; and AMC Studios.
The change reflects a trend away from cable networks amid the industry’s decline, with companies focusing on more global offerings, streaming, or cross-platform capabilities. Among the examples, Crown Media Family Networks changed its name to Hallmark Media in 2022. Meanwhile, A+E Networks changed its name to A+E Global Media in 2025.
AMC Global Media has its upfront event planned for Wednesday, April 29, at Spring Studios in Manhattan.
