Top of the Ticker: ABC News has declined to renew the contract of Janai Norman, one of the co-anchors of the weekend edition of Good Morning America.

The Status newsletter was the first to report the news. When TVNewser reached out to ABC News, the network declined to comment on the situation. However, a person familiar with the machinations within the news network said Normani is expected to be on air this coming weekend, giving her a chance to say goodbye to viewers.

Norman has been with ABC News since 2016, becoming a co-anchor of Good Morning America’s Saturday and Sunday broadcasts in July 2022.

New deal: Two weeks after employees of CBS News’ streaming channel, CBS News 24/7, staged a walkout, their union representatives and CBS News have agreed on new employment terms. On Tuesday, the Writers Guild of America East said that a new three-year collective bargaining agreement was reached between CBS News 24/7 employees and the management of CBS/Paramount. ADWEEK’s own Mark Stenberg had the scoop on an impending agreement in the latest edition of his weekly newsletter, On Background.

Harrowing situation: CNN’s Jerusalem correspondent, Jeremy Diamond, and his crew, while covering a West Bank incursion by Israeli settlers, were detained and assaulted by the Israeli Military on Friday, March 27.

The crew, alongside several Palestinians, were held by the soldiers for two hours. During the ordeal, CNN photojournalist Cyril Theophilos was put in a chokehold, taken to the ground, and had his camera damaged by one of the soldiers.

Following CNN’s report of the incident over the weekend, the top general from the Israeli military, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, suspended all operational activities of the reserve battalion involved with the detainment and assault. This also included the dismissal of one of the soldiers from military service.
