Google is moving further into physical AI by bringing a familiar robotics software platform under its wing. Alphabet-owned Intrinsic, which builds AI models and software designed to make industrial robots more accessible, is joining Google, the companies announced on Wednesday. Intrinsic will remain a distinct entity within Google but will work closely with Google DeepMind and will tap into Google’s Gemini AI models and cloud services. Alphabet declined to share information regarding funding or purchase price. Intrinsic “graduated” into an independent Alphabet-owned company in 2021 after five years of development within Alphabet’s X, the company’s moonshot research division. Other companies…
On Saturday afternoon, Austin Tucker Martin, a 21-year-old golf course groundskeeper and illustrator, left his home in North Carolina and began a 10-hour drive south to president Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida. Crypto is creeping back into the startup conversation, but at ETHDenver last week, the buzz was as much about Washington as it was about tokens. The hype cycle is over, or at least taking a break. So what comes next? On this episode of TechCrunch’s Equity podcast, Rebecca Bellan sits down with Jacquelyn Melinek, CEO of Token Relations and host of the Talking Tokens and Crypto in America podcasts, to make sense of how the market has changed and what in the world of crypto is built to last. Hours after an ICE agent shot and killed Renee Good in Minneapolis, the Trump administration was already working to shape the narrative. Official White House accounts flooded social media with clips of burning flags and clashes between locals and federal immigration agents, casting protesters—not the killing—as the story.Among the accounts amplifying that message was Johnny MAGA, a pro-Trump X account with nearly 300,000 followers. “They’re burning the American flag right now in Minneapolis,” the anonymous account claimed, sharing a clip from the White House’s official rapid response feed. “And they really expect you to believe that ICE shot an innocent…
NBC News’ Today has been America’s No. 1 morning show for four straight weeks now in both total viewers and the Adults 25-54 demo. NBC’s first week of coverage of the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympics certainly helped Today retain its title in both measured categories for the week of February 9. In addition, it was the only morning show with week-to-week gains across the board. Understandably, this is happening while viewer interest remains high in the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, in Arizona, as they catch up on the latest developments. According to Nielsen’s national live+same-day big data plus program…
U.S. cybersecurity agency CISA is reportedly in dire shape, according to bipartisan lawmakers and industry leaders who fear that the agency’s ability to perform its core mission has been diminished and left it unprepared for a cybersecurity crisis. News site Cyberscoop’s Tim Starks spoke with sources across Congress, the private cyber industry, and beyond, and what came back reflected a general consensus that CISA has suffered under cuts and layoffs during the Trump administration’s first year. Over that time, CISA has lost around one-third of its staff, which cost it programs, personnel, and expertise, including the agency’s counter-ransomware initiative and…
You might be feeling déjà vu.A decade ago, companies like Google and Apple made promises that their respective voice assistants could complete tasks on your behalf. Apple said Siri could request an Uber—try it today, and Siri just opens the Uber app. Google claimed you’d be able to “Order my usual” at Starbucks with Google Assistant, but the experience was clunky, and Google eventually removed the feature. But now, in the age of large language models and AI that understands natural language, we’re seeing the same promises back on the table. At Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event, Google and Samsung showed off…
Outfront Media, the company behind approximately 500,000 billboards and commercial out-of-home (OOH) displays across the U.S., is leveling up its sales operations through a new partnership with AdQuick, a digital marketplace for buying OOH inventory. In exchange for access to AdQuick’s platform, Outfront has agreed to invest up to $20 million in the company. Through the deal, Outfront will get access to AdQuick’s sales cloud platform for at least three years, including a limited exclusivity period. With this integration, advertisers will be able to plan and secure Outfront displays through one consolidated, standardized system, rather than dealing in spreadsheets, emails, and…
The proliferation of AI data centers plugging into the national electrical grid has helped increase consumer electricity prices, driving up the average national electricity price by more than 6% in the last year. That’s not a good look for the incumbents ahead of this fall’s elections, and President Donald Trump addressed the challenge in his State of the Union speech last night. “We’re telling the major tech companies that they have the obligation to provide for their own power needs,” Trump said. “They can build their own power plants as part of their factory, so that no one’s prices will…
Samsung’s latest Galaxy smartphones—the Galaxy S26 series—are all about optimization and AI. Announced at its Galaxy Unpacked event in San Francisco, the phones are not hugely different from last year’s Galaxy S25 models, but the company is hyping up performance optimizations that purportedly boost AI processing. Naturally, there are a bunch of new AI features baked into the phones too.The headline hardware change is reserved for the top-tier Galaxy S26 Ultra: the Privacy Display. It prevents stray eyes from peeping over your shoulder at sensitive information on your screen—no need to apply a third-party privacy screen protector. The Ultra otherwise…
