InkPoster isn’t unique. The Aura Ink ($449) is a 13-inch option with similar screen specifications, while smart home company SwitchBot has taken a different approach, layering automation and AI image generation onto a choice of 7.3-, 13.3-, and 31.5-inch displays, with pricing from just $149. Neither feels as grown-up or art-focussed as InkPoster, but it’s clear that the E Ink panels can be made cheaply and could be the start of the next wave of home display tech.Photograph: Chris Haslam/WIREDSmart PaperInkPoster uses a Spectra 6 E Ink panel here, with a Sharp IGZO backplane, running at 2160 x 3060 across…

Chief executives (CEOs) are more aligned with their chief marketing officers (CMOs) than ever. But that isn’t translating into how the marketing function is perceived by the corner office, according to Boathouse’s annual CEO Survey of leaders at 150 top U.S. marketers. While marketers increasingly position themselves as growth drivers, Boathouse CEO John Connors said CMOs are failing to instill confidence in their ability to boost the bottom line.“In our first study five years ago, CEOs thought the CMO spoke marketing mumbo jumbo. They now believe CMOs understand the business and speak its language,” he told ADWEEK.

In the years following the book’s release, a bro-y community of hobbyists has dabbled with their own wires and screens to create homebrew devices, frequently for hacking purposes or on-the-go coding. Historically, decks have resembled a heavy-duty laptop, featuring a screen and small keyboard, often sleek, utilitarian, and housed in a Pelican briefcase to survive imagined, apocalyptic scenarios. One niche ham radio YouTuber, over a year ago, titled his tutorial video “DIY Doomsday Cyberdeck EMAIL/TEXT without INTERNET” and, of course, included the “prepper” hashtag. What sets Tan’s cyberdeck apart is its aesthetic. Inside her refurbished clamshell purse, hardware-wise, is a Raspberry…

For its famous intractability, the Bloomberg Terminal has long inspired devotion, bordering on obsession. Among traders, the ability to chart a path through the software’s dizzying scrolls of numbers and text to isolate far-flung information is the mark of a seasoned professional. But as a greater mass of data is fed into the Terminal—not only earnings and asset prices, but weather forecasts, shipping logs, factory locations, consumer spending patterns, private loans, and so on—valuable information is being lost. “It has become more and more untenable,” says Shawn Edwards, chief technology officer at Bloomberg. “You miss things, or it takes too long.”To…
