NBC News’ Today led the way during the final week of May as it was the only morning show to record any positive growth in one of the two measured categories.
Today had gains in the advertiser-coveted Adults 25-54 demo the week after Memorial Day. However, in total viewers, Today joined ABC News’ Good Morning America and CBS News’ CBS Mornings in recording declines for the week of May 25.
NOTE: All three morning shows were coded as specials on Monday (05/25/26) due to Memorial Day. These telecasts are excluded from the weekly and season averages. ABC News, NBC News, and CBS News’ weekly averages are based on four days (Tuesday-Friday).
According to Nielsen’s national live+same-day big data plus program ratings, GMA averaged 2.678 million total viewers and 425,000 viewers in the A25-54 demo for the week of May 25. Compared to the previous week, ABC News’ morning show was down -2% among total viewers and -3% in the demo. When looking at how it performed in the same week in 2025, GMA was up +2% in total viewers but down -9% in the demo.
Today remained in the No. 1 position in total viewers and the demo, with 2.95 million and 597,000 viewers, respectively, for the just-concluded week. The broadcast saw a -1% loss in total viewers but grew by +6% in the A25-54 demo compared to the previous week—the only morning show with gains in either of the measured categories. When measured against the same week in 2025, Today was up +15% in total viewers and +10% in the demo.
CBS Mornings had 1.757 million total viewers and 282,000 viewers in the A25-54 demo for the week of May 25. Compared to the previous week, CBS News’ morning show was down by -7% in total viewers and -12% in the demo. Versus the same week in 2025, CBS Mornings was down -4% in total viewers and -18% in the demo.
