Enterprise platform decisions are often framed as a choice between build or buy. Either you invest in something bespoke, or you purchase a proprietary system that promises speed and structure. But for many enterprise organisations, that framing no longer fits. Digital platforms now have to support multiple brands, markets, teams, channels, integrations, and increasingly, AI-enabled workflows. Requirements change quickly. New services need to be added. Legacy systems need to be replaced gradually. Teams need to move faster without losing control. In that environment, the strongest platform strategy is not always to rebuild from scratch or commit to a single vendor-led…
Two days. That’s all that’s left to lock in your place — with your partner, co-founder, or colleague — at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026. Right now, you can buy one pass and get 50% off a second of the same ticket type, but that offer ends May 8 at 11:59 p.m. PT. After that, prices go up, and the opportunity to show up with more perspective, more context, and more clarity disappears with it. At this stage, the advantage comes down to how quickly you leave with a clear sense of what to do next, which is why securing your pass now and deciding who to bring with you matters more than waiting. Before anything else, you’ll have to decide between ink and laser. I’ll get into the details when it comes to each model, but the most important consideration is the paper type you print onto most often. Laser printers use heat in the bonding process, which means if you regularly print on windowed envelopes or photo paper, you’ll need to either use an ink printer or change to a thermally safe alternative, which can be cost prohibitive if you print a lot.Inkjets are the most common flavor of home printer, and they work by boiling ink until it splatters through a…
Amazon already shook up the upfront two years ago with an influx of ad inventory. Now, the company is looking to completely throw out the old playbook.Ahead of Amazon’s upfront event on May 11, Amazon vp of global ad sales Alan Moss spoke with ADWEEK, previewing the company’s new pitch to ad buyers and noting that it is “reinventing” how it partners with agencies this year, as it looks to help them navigate fragmentation and deliver results across streaming, digital, and the open internet.“The upfront conversation used to be, ‘What content can I buy?’ And today it’s, ‘How do I…
It had been nearly two years since we were last on retreat together in Greece, which, in a company like ours, feels like a very long time. Last week, we brought Human Made back together again, this time on the Croatian coast, surrounded by mountains, sea air, and the kind of setting that invites both reflection and energy in equal measure. As a remote company, these moments are not incidental to how we work, they are fundamental to it, giving us the opportunity to reconnect in ways that simply are not possible through a screen and to strengthen the relationships…
Spotify said on Thursday that its interactive AI DJ feature now supports four additional languages: French, German, Italian, and Brazilian Portuguese. Until now, the feature, which you can interact with to request songs and get AI-powered spoken commentary, was only available in English and Spanish. The company said the AI DJs have different names and personalities to suit their respective languages: Maia, Ben, Alex, and Dani. Besides expanding support for new languages, the company is bringing the feature to Austria, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, South Korea and Switzerland. The AI DJ is now available in more than 75 countries.…
Photograph: Julia ForbesLike any Sleep Number smart bed, the ComfortNext Lux offers 100 firmness levels, and the one you select is your “Sleep Number,” or the firmness you prefer to sleep on. I usually skew toward firmer for lumbar support and weight distribution, which has previously been in the 40 to 50 range. Then, a new recommendation popped up in the app—my firmness level was in the mid-70s, but going softer could improve my sleep score, which Sleep Number calls its “SleepIQ score” and reports in its app. I decided to lower it to a much softer firmness level of…
AI is already part of how enterprise teams work. Quietly in some places, more visibly in others. Editors use it to summarise long-form content. Marketers lean on it for campaign copy and optimisation. Content teams use it to analyse performance and spot gaps. What started as experimentation has moved into daily workflow faster than most platforms have been able to keep up with. That gap is where things start to get messy. Where things start to break down In many organisations, AI still sits outside the core publishing environment. An editor drafts in the CMS, switches to an AI tool…
Aurora Innovation will start hauling loads in driverless trucks for distribution giant McLane, the latest company to adopt the startup’s autonomous vehicle technology following a multi-year pilot program. Under the commercial agreement announced Wednesday, trucks outfitted with Aurora’s self-driving system will be used to transport goods between Dallas and Houston. These trucks will operate autonomously and will not have a human safety driver on board who can take over. However, Aurora will still have what it describes as a “human observer” sitting in the cab — who does not operate the vehicle — per an agreement it has with truck…
Here’s the problem. We have two young kids at home, and we live in the city in a townhouse that isn’t exactly large. With that comes a lot of “shared space”—also known as partially controlled chaos. The room that we have colloquially named the “office” is hardly a dedicated work space. I couldn’t survive without the blur background function in Zoom and Teams. The closet is a storage space, and in addition to our standing desk, which is typically filled with laptops, monitors, laptop stands, and various peripherals I’m testing, we also have some nonwork items throughout the room. Some…

When companies are looking for opinions or advice on a project, they tend to go to LinkedIn or use expert networks such as GLG, Third Bridge, or AlphaSights. But they often don’t find quality inputs, despite their searches. Today, these sites ask experts to fill in a form based on their job title, which is then used to match them with companies in need of their help. London-based Ethos thinks that AI can improve both sides of this experience. For experts, it offers voice-powered onboarding to ask a broader set of questions and get more data about their knowledge in…
In recent weeks both MAGA and left-wing influencers have found something they agree on: President Donald Trump, they say, is staging his own assassination attempts.Within minutes of the Secret Service detaining an alleged attacker at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on April 25, social media was flooded with baseless claims the attack was “STAGED.”In the days since, these claims have led some prominent pundits and creators to reassess the 2024 assassination attempt on Trump’s life in Butler, Pennsylvania, with many alleging, without evidence, that it was also staged.“This was not a real assassination attempt, and I am also ready to…
Apple has agreed to pay $250 million to settle a class action lawsuit over how it marketed its AI features ahead of the launch of the iPhone 16. The Financial Times was the first to report the news. The lawsuit alleged that Apple exaggerated the breadth of features Apple Intelligence would bring, which included a significantly upgraded version of its assistant, Siri. The complaint alleges that the company created the impression that advanced AI capabilities would be available to users sooner than they actually were. In particular, the plaintiffs allege that Apple overstated both the readiness and functionality of these…
Timothée Chalamet’s most recent role is no longer table tennis legend Marty Mauser. In his latest gig, Chalamet plays himself as a soccer fan. The movie is only five minutes, and there’s no need to hit theaters. This is the storyline of the five-minute, star-studded film Adidas debuted this week, the centerpiece of its sponsorship of the 2026 World Cup, which will run from June 11 to 19 in cities across North America. As a Tier 1 partner (a sponsorship reported to cost between $150M and $200 million), Adidas already enjoys a treasure chest of branding opportunities in the venues, online,…
You might think the big story out of Match Group’s first-quarter earnings is Tinder’s turnaround. The dating app’s revenue is slightly up again after quarter-after-quarter of declines. But we’d like to point to a comment the chief financial officer made about how the company is slowing its hiring right now because it needs more money to pay for AI tools for its employees. Ah, yes, the good ol’ “let’s blame AI” strategy! While speaking to analysts on the first-quarter earnings call, Match Group CFO Steven Bailey talked about how the dating app giant was investing in AI technology for internal…
