Amid enduring investor appetite for all things quantum, another European company in the space is graduating from the private markets. Just two weeks after Finnish quantum unicorn IQM said it was going public via a merger with a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC), its French rival Pasqal is doing the same. Accompanied by a separate $200 million private funding round, Pasqal’s SPAC deal will see it merging with Bleichroeder Acquisition Corp II and subsequently being listed on the Nasdaq. The merger values Pasqal at $2 billion, pre-money. Bleichroeder is backed by Michel Combes, a French telecom veteran who previously headed…
India’s PC market had its strongest year on record in 2025, surpassing the surge in demand during the COVID-19 pandemic as millions of first-time buyers who purchased laptops during lockdowns began upgrading their devices. Shipments of desktops, notebooks, and workstations in India rose 10.2% year-over-year to 15.9 million units in 2025, according to analysts at IDC. The total marks the first time annual shipments have crossed the 15-million-unit milestone, surpassing the peaks seen in 2021 and 2022. Pandemic-driven lockdowns exposed many people in India to PCs for the first time, expanding the country’s PC userbase and creating demand for upgrades…
Claude’s daily active users are on the rise on mobile devices, as are its new app installs, following the company’s fallout with the Pentagon. After Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei refused to allow the government to use its AI systems for mass surveillance of Americans or to power fully autonomous weapons, the AI model provider behind Claude was marked as a supply-chain risk. However, Anthropic’s stance led many consumers to favor the model, data suggests. App intelligence provider Appfigures reports that the U.S. downloads of Claude’s mobile app continue to surpass those of ChatGPT. The most recent figures from March 2 show Claude with…
In a recent security partnership with Mozilla, Anthropic found 22 separate vulnerabilities in Firefox — 14 of them classified as “high-severity.” Most of the bugs have been fixed in Firefox 148 (the version released this February), although a few fixes will have to wait for the next release. Anthropic’s team used Claude Opus 4.6 over the span of two weeks, starting in the JavaScript engine and then expanding to other portions of the codebase. According to the post, the team focused on Firefox because “it’s both a complex codebase and one of the most well-tested and secure open-source projects in…
Retail investors are famously locked out of the startup world. Robinhood is attempting to change that by allowing the general public to invest in a portfolio of what it calls “some of the most exciting private companies operating today.” To do this, the company that pioneered the commission-free brokerage model has secured access to eight startups—including Databricks, Stripe, Mercor, and Oura—grouping them into a vehicle called Robinhood Ventures Fund I. The fund, which also includes Ramp, Airwallex, Revolut, and Boom, set out last month with an ambitious $1 billion target, but demand for this novel way of investing in private…
South Korean officials have warned that the US-Israel war with Iran could hit the global semiconductor supply chain if it disrupts the flow of critical industrial materials from the Middle East.South Korea’s semiconductor sector, led by giants like Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, produces about two-thirds of the world’s memory chips. If the Middle East’s supply of chipmaking materials is disrupted, semiconductor production could slow unless alternative sources are found quickly. The Helium ProblemOne material at risk is helium, which is essential in chip manufacturing for managing heat, detecting leaks, and maintaining stable temperatures in fabrication equipment. For many of these…

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) gave TerraPower the go-ahead this week to build a new nuclear reactor in the shadow of an aging coal power plant in Wyoming. TerraPower’s permit is the first to be issued by the NRC in nearly a decade. The startup — founded by Bill Gates in 2015 and backed by Nvidia — has been designing its Natrium reactor with GE Vernova Hitachi. The final power plant will generate 345 megawatts, which is about two-thirds smaller than modern full-size reactors, but multiple times larger than many small modular reactor designs favored by other startups. Natrium differs…
For decades, satellites, drones, and human spotters have all been part of war’s surveillance and reconnaissance tool kit. In an age of cheap, insecure, internet-connected consumer devices, however, militaries have gained another powerful set of eyes on the ground: every hackable security camera installed outside a home or on a city street, pointed at potential bombing targets. On Wednesday, Tel Aviv–based security firm Check Point released new research describing hundreds of hacking attempts that targeted consumer-grade security cameras around the Middle East—with many apparently timed to Iran’s recent missile and drone strikes on targets that included Israel, Qatar, and Cyprus. Those…
Fifteen years ago, McDonald’s delivered Burger King a gut punch in the form of a commercial. It featured a little boy frustrated by his school chums stealing his McDonald’s fries, so he comes up with an ingenious solution: Hide the fries in a Burger King bag. Nobody touched them.Though it was a McDonald’s affiliate in Germany that created the spot, anyone could watch it on Vimeo—and Burger King was pissed. “McDonald’s has broken the rules of comparative advertising by degrading the Burger King brand,” it fumed. A chastened McDonald’s took the ad down. How quickly the tables turn. After last month’s social…
Nintendo filed a lawsuit against the U.S. government on Friday over its extraction of tariffs from global businesses. The gaming giant is seeking a refund for any duties it paid due to President Donald Trump’s executive orders that invoke the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). This lawsuit, filed in the U.S. Court of International Trade, comes after a Supreme Court decision struck down the tariffs that the president imposed under IEEPA, arguing that he exceeded his authority. More than a thousand other companies have already sued for refunds on the tariffs that they pay; according to Nintendo’s complaint, viewed…
Deveillance also claims the Spectre can find nearby microphones by detecting radio frequencies (RF), but critics say finding a microphone via RF emissions is not effective unless the sensor is immediately beside it.“If you could detect and recognize components via RF the way Spectre claims to, it would literally be transformative to technology,” Jordan wrote in a text to WIRED after he built a device to test detecting RF signatures in microphones. “You’d be able to do radio astronomy in Manhattan.”Deveillance is also looking at ways to integrate nonlinear junction detection (NLJD), a very high-frequency radio signal used by security…

He highlighted the company’s investments in AI, expansion of programmatic inventory,…
X is testing a new ad format that inserts a recommendation directly underneath a post that references the company or its products. The initial test, spotted by an X user in Europe, displayed a suggestion to “Get Starlink” beneath a post from a user that said Starlink’s satellite service works great in Portugal. The link, when clicked, directed users to Starlink’s website. X head of product Nikita Bier confirmed the test, responding, “Trying to make an ad product that isn’t an ad.” The Starlink ad is not visible to all users at this time, but the placeholder where the ad…
This included a Persian turmeric chicken with dill-currant rice that fits seamlessly into Marley Spoon’s repertoire, deglazing with lemon juice instead of wine. The rice was toasted, then cooked with currants and spinach. It was simple, elegant, and kind of a treat. Among the pan-Asian dishes, this was the most successful.Other international meals are less faithful translations. The essence of a Moroccan tagine is the hours it spends braising and caramelizing in a conical clay pot. The challenge for a meal kit is translating this to a 45-minute meal. Marley Spoon’s chefs achieved this on a beef and apricot tagine largely…
