Today continues to be America’s No. 1 morning show for the week of February 16. However, the good news ends there for NBC News’ morning show, as it was the only morning show to lose viewers in both total viewers and the Adults 25-54 demo.
Coverage of the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympics helped Today maintain its lead in both measured categories, but the big winner of the week was CBS Mornings, which recorded double-digit growth in the advertiser-prized demo.
NOTE: GMA and CBS Mornings were coded as specials, and Today was retitled to Today-TS on Monday (02/16/26) due to the Presidents Day holiday. Friday’s (02/20/26) edition of CBS Mornings was also retitled to CBS Morn. These specialed and retitled telecasts are excluded from the weekly and season averages. The morning shows weekly averages of ABC News and NBC News are based on four days (Tuesday-Friday). While CBS News’ morning show’s averages are based on three days (Tuesday-Thursday).
According to Nielsen’s national live+same-day big data plus program ratings, GMA averaged 2.952 million total viewers and 490,000 viewers in the A25-54 demo for the week of February 16. Compared to the previous week, ABC News’ morning show saw a +2% gain in total viewers and a +3% increase in the demo. Looking at its performance to the same week in 2025 (Feb. 17), GMA was up by +6% in total viewers but dropped by -3% in the demo.
Today remained the No. 1 overall morning broadcast, finishing with 3.289 million total viewers and 637,000 demo viewers for the just-concluded week. The newscast was the only one to record week-to-week losses, down -6% in total viewers and -9% in the demo compared to the previous week. Looking at how it performed during the same week in 2025, Today grew by +19% in total viewers but slid by -2% in the demo.
CBS Mornings had 1.707 million total viewers and 272,000 viewers in the A25-54 demo. Compared to the previous week, CBS News’ morning show grew by +1% in total viewers and +14% in the A25-54 demo—the only broadcast with double-digit growth. However, during the same period in 2024, CBS Mornings declined by -15% in total viewers and -20% in the demo—the only morning show with double-digit viewership declines in both measured categories within this comparison.
