Delta Air Lines CMO Alicia Tillman is leaving after three years to pursue “broader leadership opportunities.”

“Leading the transformation of Delta’s marketing organization alongside an extraordinary team has been one of the most rewarding chapters of my career,” Tillman said in a statement to ADWEEK. “As I look ahead, I’m excited to pursue broader leadership opportunities where I can continue shaping world-class brands and driving growth and transformation at enterprise scale.”

ADWEEK understands she will exit at the end of June.

In a corporate blog post, Delta also announced that 18-year company veteran Ranjan Goswami will take on the new role of chief marketing and product officer following her departure.

The marketing switch-up comes amid a broader leadership reshuffle for Delta following the retirement of longtime operations chief John Laughter, who will be replaced by CFO Dan Janki.

    A new marketing role

Tillman joined Delta in June 2023 from fintech brand Capitolis. Before that, she was at SAP and spent 11 years at American Express, where she led marketing, public affairs, and business services for its travel division.

While at Delta, she has stewarded the brand’s Team USA Olympic sponsorship campaigns, launched its “Delta Locals” platform, and led the carrier’s pivot to a more lifestyle-focused brand.

Goswami, who will step into the marketing role, joined Delta in 2008 and rose through the ranks to his current position of SVP of customer experience design.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, he led Delta’s day-to-day safety, operational, and customer service functions spanning more than 21,000 flight attendants, supervisory, and administrative personnel across 14 U.S. bases. More recently, Goswami has been connecting the dots between Delta’s onboard digital experience and its loyalty program, SkyMiles.

“Ranjan’s vision has elevated Delta’s brand, strengthened our partnerships, and improved travel for our customers, while always remaining deeply connected to our people,” said Delta CEO Ed Bastian in a statement.

Other changes at Delta included the promotion of Peter Carter to president, Erik Snell to CFO, and Alain Bellemare to chairman of Delta TechOps.
